Fourteen members of the Tufts University Indoor Track and Field team cut their break short to compete against DI, DII, DIII, and Canadian competition at the Dartmouth Relays. To start off the day Jamil Ludd went through two preliminary rounds of the 60m high hurdles before coming out in an impressive 6th place in the finals with a time of 8.75 seconds. An excellent start to what will surely be a superb season for the up and coming sophomore. Moving up in distance, Pat Mahoney shook out the cobwebs from a semester abroad by running a 52.41 in the 400m.

All competing distance runners teamed up in the 3k, and were led by big PRs from future cross country captains Matt Lacey and Matt Fortin. Lacey finished 7th overall with a time of 8:36.40 and Fortin ran away from the field in the second heat clocking an 8:38.75. Nate Brigham held off cross country All-American Josh Kennedy with a blistering kick to finish in a time of 8:49.43 to Kennedy's 8:49.82.

Off the track, Jumbos excelled in the field as well. Unfazed by an opening height of 6 feet, freshman Jeremy Arak got his college career off to a great start by clearing 6'2" in the high jump to finish 4th place overall. In the triple jump, two Jumbos placed in the top five, with Fred Jones 2nd jumping 46'8.25" and freshman Dan Marcy close behind, finishing 5th with a leap of 40'3.25". The throwing squad also got off to a strong start, with Ryan Byrne grabbing 9th in the shot put with a heave of 45'0.5" and Jason Galvin placing 10th in the weight throw with 46'02".

The Jumbos will send a larger squad into competition next week at the first Tufts Invite after a tough week of practice.
