Alumni Lacey Trounces Field at Forester Invite

TUXC Alum and school record holder Matt Lacey walked away with the crown at the Forester Invitational this weekend. His time of 25:07 was almost 80 seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. It was a solid effort for the former Jumbo just 2 weeks off his latest 1/2 marathon where he finished the Chicago 1/2 marathon in 1:09.37.

Earlier this fall, Lacey took the title at the 2009 TUXC Alumni 5k helping the Alumni three-peat as champions. While at Tufts, Matt was a multiple time NCAA Qualifier helping the TUXC squad finish 5th at Cross Country nationals in 2005. His outdoor PRs of 14:19 (5k) and 30:04 (10k) still stand as school records.

In addition to Matts great individual performance this weekend, the team that hes helping coach, the Illinois Institute of Technology, took down the team title at the Forester this Saturday as well. The NAIA school saw 5 of their top 7 assemble PR performances this weekend.
