For the few brave Jumbos who put off summer for another week to compete at the ECAC championships, the weekend was a success. Nate Scott got things started on Thursday in the Decathlon with a terrific day, PRing in 4 out of 5 events, including an impressive 21?1. 5? long jump and clearing a lofty 6?2? in the high jump. Nate continued with a strong day 2 as well, adding an additional 3 PRs, capping it off with a blazing 4:25 in the 1500. This left Nate in 7th place with a score of 5938, an agonizing 62 points short of the nation provision standard of 6000, but still a performance to be very proud of and a sign that great things are to come from the freshman.

The other highlight of the meet for the Jumbos came in the triple jump, where Fred Jones and Dan Marcy placed 2nd and 6th respectively. Fred unleashed a season?s best of 14.63 meters, which lands him in the top ten in the nation and secures his chance to defend his All American status from last spring. Dan Marcy put on an equally impressive show, launching himself 13.68 meters, a great new PR for the freshman and a fantastic way to end his season.

Rounding out the scoring for the Jumbos, Jason Galvin placed 8th in a very competitive hammer field with a toss of 50.54 meters.

The outdoor track and field season will culminate for Tufts at the national championships next weekend where Nate Brigham and Matt Lacey will line up in the distances while Fred Jones will hit the runway in the jumps.
