Tufts ran strong today in wet and muddy conditions to come out with a 6th place, first out of DIII teams and a mere 20 points out of fourth. Senior co-captain Matt Lacey (25:05) led the Jumbos against the top schools in the New-England with an impressive 5th place overall finish at the meet, the best finish by a Tufts runner since Dan Moynihan won the race in 1973. Trailing Lacey was Josh Kennedy (25:27) who finished in 15th among an array of talented DI competitors. Senior co-captain Matthew Fortin (26:13) finished a bit farther behind in 48th, yet well ahead of every third man of each Div. III rival team. After him came Justin Chung (26:34) and Neil Orfield (26:34*) who, after running together for nearly the entire race, finished with a side-by-side sprint to place 70th and 71st respectively. Rounding out the top seven were David Sorenson (27:06), who recovered a woods loop fall to finish 119th, and Bredan McNeish (27:20) who finished 148th in his first collegiate championship race.

In the sub-varsity race, amidst a total ?Brown-out?, the Jumbos wallowed through the mud bath course for the final race of the day. All runners put forth their best effort despite the conditions and the competition. Finishing first for Tufts was Anyenda Inyagwa (28:03) in 64th.

Next week the top 8 will be flying out to Wisconsin to compete in the Jim Drews Invitational where they will face some of the top DIII teams in the nation.
