Stampede of Performances as Gantcher Says Goodbye to Strong Senior Class
(2/4/2006) Full ResultsThis Saturday marked the last time the Jumbos Seniors would run inside their home Gantcher Center, and they made a point of showing that. The strongest senior class Tufts has seen led the team to a cruising victory over competitors such as UMass Lowell, Stonehill, Springfield, Trinity, and MIT.
Saturday was a big day for the thowers as Tyler Groff Joe Brown and Jason Galvin all threw Personal records on the day. Galvin, a senior, broke his weight PR By over 2 feet breaching the fifty foot mark with a toss of 50'6".He also had a standout performance in the shot put. with a crowd watching on he threw 13.90 meters to give himself 4th place. Brown continued his pattern of huge improvement by throwing 44'1.25" in the weight keeping his pace for adding another 2 feet every week, and Groff threw a PR of 12.10 meters in the weight
Fred Jones had another huge day as he stepped up and ran a PR in the 55m Dash with a time of 6.80 seconds. He also won the long jump and the triple jump with leaps of 6.89m and 13.78m respectivly. Leading a strong field of tufts jumpers in bopth events. Dan Marcy, Kenny Kang and Jake Fromer all scored in the triple, while Nate Scott and Kang scored in the long jump.
