Nick Welch • 2011
Nickname: Coach Welch Seattle, WA (Lakeside School)
International Relations and Spanish
Nick made a seamless transition to collegiate running in every facet. As a runner he was an All Region competitor in his first season. As a student he was an Academic All American. As a teammate he received multiple votes for captain...quite the freshman campaign. He didn't make it easy on himself setting the bar so high after his first year at Tufts. Lucky for the team, he always found a way to exceed expectations and raise the bar a little higher.
In the end, there is really only one thing to do with an athlete of Nick's stature...hire him as a coach. The Tufts coaching staff welcomes Nick into that position this fall as he helps pilot the TUXC team from the sideline instead of the starting line. Watching this transition will be almost as exciting as watching the meet itself.

Why Tufts: Because the world needs more superheroes. Really. Tufts taught me how to look critically at the world. How to actually see where positive change could occur. And then it helped me learn, first hand, how to make those changes a reality. If a superhero were looking for a school, I'd recommend Tufts.
