Alums Escape With Win

The Alumni, thanks to new arrival Josh Kennedy, held off the current crop of Jumbos on Saturday at the annual Alumni Run out at Grafton. The Alums eked out a 28-29 victory after taking first, second, and fourth.

Nate Brigham ('05), Matt Lacey ('06), and Kennedy ('07) recaptured the glory days as the three paced the Alumni to a razor thin victory. Senior tri-captain Dave Sorensen broke into the Alumni pack to take third, followed by a quartet of current Jumbos: freshman Greg Pallotta, sophomore Jesse Faller, freshman Jeff Ragazzini, and sophomore Nick Welch took fifth through eighth, respectively.

A few records fell on Saturday, as unusually comfortable Labor Day weather helped runners at Grafton. Brigham tied the Alumni Run-course record of 16:06, held by Aristides Cruz ('02), and Pallotta broke Kennedy's freshman record with his time of 16:26.

Longtime Tufts Cross Country and Track and Field coach Connie Putnam was the honorary starter on Saturday as current and former Jumbos reunited. The team would like to thank all the family and friends of the team who made the trek to Grafton on Saturday to take part in another successful Alumni Run.
