Jumbos Kick Off 2009 With Alumni Invite

As the decorations and boxes from another holiday season found their way back into storage, the Jumbo alumni again begin to dust off their spikes and work the rust out of their legs for the 2nd Annual Alumni Invitational. The return of the newest Tufts Track and Field traditions proved to be as exciting and enjoyable as last year. With 70+ competitors suiting up at the Gantcher Center this Saturday, the current Jumbos looked to build off of their stellar week of practice.

Kicking off all events were the trio of field events, the pole vault, high jump, and 25# weight throw. Each of these events would be highlighted by their developmental focus. Obviously the use of the 25# weight as opposed the 35# weight made for an opportunity to focus on more technical aspects of the event. Needless to say, it also protected the alumni from injuring their back any more than they needed to. Although alums Jason Galvin and Joe Brown would claim the top two spots in the event, sophomore Alex Gresham boasted an 11
