Faller, Welch Named Academic All American

In a press release today, the USTFCCCA named two members of the Tufts University Mens Cross Country program to the All Academic team. Juniors Jesse Faller and Nick Welch were the top two finishers for the Jumbos this fall at the New England Qualifier. Their finish, accompanied by their impressive GPAs, qualified them for yet another All Academic Award.

Faller (mechanical engineering) and Welch (international relations) helped lead the 2009 Jumbos to a 4th place finish at the NESCAC Championships. Faller built off his 2nd place finish at the New England Championships to finish as an All American at the NCAA Championships.

Since, both athletes have qualified individually for the 2009 Indoor National Championships. Welch and Faller have each run 14:39 in the 5k this winter and are currently ranked 12th and 13th in the nation.
