Marvel Resets School Record on Day 1 of NEICAAA Championships
(2/24/2012 6:40 PM) Full ResultsAs day 1 of the NEICAAA Championships drew to a close, the Tufts University Track and Field team headed back to Medford with a slew of new PR's as well as a new school record. Junior Jeff Marvel reset his own school record in the trials of the 800m with his 1:51.43. Not only did he advance to the finals with this mark, but he most likely earned a spot at the National Championships next month.
Also advancing to tomorrow's competition was senior Jeff Prescott who PR'd in the 1000m run. His 2:31.84 was the 5th fastest time of the day. Additionally, freshman Ptah Osayande earned a spot in the semifinals in the 60H. Junior Brad Nakanishi finished 5th overall in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-7. He currently sits at 10th in the nation with his 15-11 from last week's DIII NE Championships.
Junior Tyler Andrews earned a spot in the sub15:00 club this weekend as he notched his PR in the 5k down another 14 seconds. His 14:53.76 was good enough for 13th overall and marks his 3rd consecutive PR in the event. Andrews makes it currently four returners to next falls XC team with sub 15:00 PR's.
