Mitch Stallman ’15 and Pietro Possenti ’17 both cleared 4.00 meters in the pole vault; marks which lead the team. In the long jump, Bryson Hoover-Hankerson ’16 qualified for the Div. 3 New England meet with his 6.46 m (21’2.5â€) leap. By qualifying in the long jump, Hoover-Hankerson affirmed that Tufts now has a Div. 3 New England qualifier in every event, an accomplishment that not many other teams can claim.
Brian Williamson ’15 and Atticus Swett ’16 continued their dominating seasons in the throws as they took 2nd (15.18 m/49’9.75â€) and 3rd (14.64 m/48’0.5â€) in the shot put. Swett later returned in the weight throw to heave the weight 14.47 m (47’5.75â€) on his way to a 3rd place finish. Freshman Thomas Wang '17 added a runner-up finish in the 60m hurdles (9.07) to cap an impressive day across all field disciplines for Tufts.
The Jumbos will next host the annual Tufts Cupid Invitational at the Gantcher Center, held this coming weekend. There, they will attempt to qualify more athletes and improve on seed marks for postseason meets.
