Chris Brunnquell • 2011
Nickname: Brunk Harrington Park, NJ (NV Old Tappan)
Mechanical Engineering
It was a testament to Chris Brunnquell's dedication and training when he went through the mile of his first collegiate 5k faster than his high school PR. He is true distance hog, able to put his head down and grind away when others want to back off. Brunk would be the first to admit that the studly PRs and breakout cross-country season of his junior year were the product of his determination to put in consistent mileage and hard tempos at Long Lakes. Chris's 2009 Regionals race exemplified the confidence and faith in one's training necessary to reach new heights: After finishing 77th as a sophomore, Brunk nabbed the last All-Region spot as the Jumbos 4th man. The performance blew out of the water everyone's expectations save for one -- his own. Chris ran each workout believing in his ability to be in the top 35 and executed it brilliantly. There are few better examples an upperclassman can set for his teammates.
